Hello,friends.Here I have something funny to share with you.Can you imagine what cheesecake and beefcake are.They're not something delicious to eat.

TO our surprise,they mean "女性健美照" AND "男性健美照". DON'T you think the  discriptions are very vivid?

Now,I will also give you some examples about colors.

"a white man"? What does this phrase mean? OF course not a "白人"，BUT a ”老实可靠的人;

"green face“ means 脸色不好;
"blue" means "gloomy";
"a brown study" means 忧心重重;
"pink" means 振作起来;
"blue moon" 千载难逢的机会;
"white  elephant"=累赘;
"blue  stocking"并不指蓝色长筒袜，而是指那些穿蓝色袜子的女学者和女才子

Finally,I will leave you another three questions:
1. what does "halfway house" mean?
2. "french leave"?
3. And "American beauty"?

3不可直译为美国丽人。有一部译做《美国丽人》的电影和丽人并没有关系。也有翻做《殷血玫瑰》的。根据剧情内容来看后者比较恰当。因为“American beauty"是 指一种四季长开的蔷薇花。
